YOU MISSED!!!!!RAMBIS NEWS NOVEMBER-MARCH

March 17, 2001

Rambis Fans, this is your chance to get a hold of a very rare Rambis item. A 1974 Cupertino Yearbook is on eBay (Kurt's Sophomore Year!) Its got a ton of great pictures of Kurt in it. This is an item you may never see again. It didn't belong to Kurt, but there are only a few in print. The auction is being held by our good pal Jan who donated the scans to the site for the Rambis "HighSchool Section."

Happy Birthday Kurt!!! Today Kurt turns 43 years old. To Kurt, from all your fans, we wish you a great day!

There hasn't been much Kurt news recently. Kurt's been staying out of the spotlight. We are hoping to get a few scans of Kurt as a high schooler at Cupertino High School. Jan wrote me to let me know that:

"Believe it or not, the Cupertino band used to break out into "Jesus Christ Superstar" whenever Kurt took the floor at games."

Thanks Jan, what a great tidbit of Kurt trivia.

I just got the new 2000 Yearbook and there are a few very nice pictures of Kurt in there. The big one has a nice picture to show the new look Rambo (new haircut and no glasses). I posted the new pictures of Kurt in the picture section...page 3. The write up on Rambis remained the same basically. I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving Holiday. Have fun and stay safe!

Today I received an email from long time Rambis fan Gary Boyd. Gary has done what we all wish we could have since 1988. He has made a home-made KURT RAMBIS STARTING LINE UP. Unfortunately, it is not for sale. However, maybe Gary can e-mail us with step by step instructions so we all can try to make our own Rambo SLU. This is so awesome. If Kenner is out there...DO YOU SEE WHAT YOU MISSED OUT ON??? If I hear from Gary soon, I'll keep you all posted. Check it out in the Picture Section

On Oct. 24, Lakers rookie Mark Madsen and Assistant General Manager Kurt Rambis participated in Teach for America Week. Teach for America Week is an annual nationwide event in which American leaders from all professions teach for one hour in urban and rural public schools in our nation's lowest income communities. The week-long program is designed to raise support and awareness for Teach for America, a national corps of outstanding and diverse recent college graduate of all academic majors who commit two years to teach in schools where they are needed most.

Well Kurt officially received his 5th Championship ring with the Lakers last night. Kurt was in the booth for FoxSports West Hosting the half hour countdown to the ring and banner ceremony. Funny thing is that Kurt was not wearing glasses. He maybe got contacts or had corrective eye surgery. He looked a little different, but still looked good. He's got a new haircut that I like and has his goatee shaved close. While they were talking Rambis had this to say about Mark Madsen:

"I like Mark Madsen allot. He kinda reminds me of someone...someone behind this booth (referring to himself obviously). Every time he's on the court he's hustling for the ball and is gonna be a great player for the Lakers."
