    Dear Mr. Rambis,

My name is Peter Martinelli. I am a an 8th grader living in Lubbock, Texas. I was talking to my dad over the phone a few hours ago, and your name came up. I don’t know how good your memory is, but you attended Santa Clara University with my mother and father. Lawrence(Larry) Martinelli and Brigitte Curtis. I felt compelled to send you this email because I have a love for the game of basketball, and I thought it would be awsome to communicate in any way with a well seasoned veteran of the most elite league on the planet. I wouldn’t exactly call this fan mail, however I think you were the most under appreciated Laker of your era. With that being said, you are a truly skillled basketball player and the NBA will never be able to forget you. I have tremendous amounts of respect for your shot and rebound. Perhaps most important of all, you strike me as a very classy man on and off the court. I have spent the last few hours on Youtube watching highlight reels, and Finals performance, as well as ESPN, reading articles about Kurt Rambis. You may be interested to know, if you are not already aware, of an interesting fact. I imagine you vaguely recall Game 4 of the 1984 Finals? Kevin McHale’s foul against you is considered the hardest in NBA history, not just because of the physical damage, but because of the message it sent. In my opinion that display of unadultered physical agressiveness completely changed the outcome of the series. It sucks just to think about. I wanted to congratulate you on your success on basketball’s biggest stage. If you have any tips on life, or basketball, I would be delighted to hear them.

    Sincerely,
    Peter Martinelli

    Hi Kurt,

Will you be doing any autograph signings in the Los Angeles area any time soon? I have a Lakers Showtime memorabilia piece that needs one key member of that era…Which is you.!!! I already have Magic, Kareem, Byron Scott, Michael Cooper and AC Green on an official piece of the Fabulous Forum. Let me know.

    Best,

    Chris Gallegos
